Induction is an app for iPhone and Android that gives healthcare professionals the information they need to work in any UK hospital.
Yes you most certainly can.
However, this is only possible if your hospital has a common external prefix that can be applied before the extension to create a full number.
Please ask switchboard if they have a prefix, and then add it for your hospital (via the settings).
Numbers that you add will be shared with all other users in your hospital. This is the beauty of the system.
Extensions and pager numbers for each hospital are contributed by users of our apps. We do not add any numbers ourselves (unless we are asked).
Hospitals that use our Kuma service sometimes also add numbers (and other great stuff) so that their users are always up-to-date.
Yes - absolutely. Often the content of FAQs is very useful to other healthcare professionals in your hospital, so they are shared.
The term FAQ stands for 'Frequently Asked Question' (we're sure you knew that!)
Basically these are tips and tricks for any healthcare professional working in a hospital.
Common examples include 'How do I bleep?', 'What are the canteen opening hours?' and 'Where do I park?'.
That's completely up to you! Our users have told us that often they store access codes to wards, passwords for hospital computer systems and the old favourite - blood gas machines!
Any codes that you add in the app are only ever stored on your device. They are never shared with other users.
To make sure your codes are properly protected please ensure that you have passcode protection enabled on your mobile device.

'Guidelines' refers to the specific approved guidelines for a hospital. They are provided in PDF form, and can be saved to your device for future reference.
Enabling the guidelines feature requires that your hospital uses our Induction Kuma platform.
Our apps do not currently require any form of login or authentication.
Access to Induction Kuma requires an account (which we shall set you up with) and a login.
In the future, as more features are introduced, a signup and login process may be required for security purposes.
We use 256bit AES encryption for our data when it is at rest and 256bit SSL when it is in motion.
All our data is stored in data centres located within the United Kingdom, and is encrypted to Department of Health standard.
Induction Kuma is priced per hospital or trust at a very competitive rate. We offer rolling one month contracts.
The cost of Kuma is a fraction of what you would pay if you wished to commission a similar app to be built for your organisation. There is also the added benefit that it is most likely already being using within your organisation.
Induction Kuma is a web-based platform designed for hospital administrators to manage the data stored for their hospital.
Kuma (as we call it) gives editing rights to numbers, FAQs and allows the addition of official guidelines.
It also has a sophisticated tracking system so you can track usage of Induction in your hospital.
